
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who plays as captain and striker for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from 2018 until 2020. Following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley and playing with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut at the club , and also helped the team win the league championship. Morgan 22, then 22 years old, was the youngest national player to play at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. Morgan scored the match-winning goal against Canada during the 123rd minute of the semi-final match of the 2012 London Olympics. The 2012 season ended with 21 goals and 28 assists and was able to join Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and give 20 assists within the same calendar year , making her the sixth youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. Morgan was later named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and 2019. Morgan was selected to the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
